Quarterly Meeting
Minutes
April 29, 2006
The Quarterly meeting of the Oconomowoc Historical Society was called to order at 10:05am by President Ed Johnson at the museum. Approximately 65 people
were in attendance.
Secretary’s Report:
- President
Ed Johnson asked for a motion
to dispense with the reading of the January 28, 2006 Quarterly Meeting
minutes. Motion approved. Motion made to approve the January 28, 2006 Quarterly meeting
minutes. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report:
- John Fishleigh reported the first two quarters
looked good for the museum, but next year we will loose the grant funding
and will be looking at different ways to raise additional dollars for the
museum. Anyone wishing to see the Treasurer’s report should see John after
the program.
Membership:
- Barbara
Elwood-Goetsch reported we now have 328 members
and 8 organizations.
Operations:
- Museum
will reopen on May 5th. Saturday, May 13th, Milt Babinec will host a docent training session. May
Business after Hours will be at the museum on May 18th from 5-7pm.
Artifacts:
- Jack
Grothaus, former Oconomowoc Canning Company
employee, donated truck decals from Oconomowoc Canning and Stokley USA. Mary Hart attended the
estate sale of Dr. and Mrs. Peters and purchased a dress from the 1920’s
and donated it to the historical society/museum.
- Dorothy
St. Thomas reported last fall at her Quester group
she talked about the Summit
School murals the
museum had acquired. At that time the Oconomowoc Canning Company’s murals came
up. Guests questioned if the murals still existed and wondered where they
were. Dorothy called Winnie Weix and asked if
she knew where the murals were. Winnie stated that her brother Joe had
always meant for the museum to have them and they were stored in her
basement. The murals, painted by renowned artist Shomer
Lichtner, are on display for this meeting only
until a spot is found for them to be permanently displayed.
Meeting adjourned at 10:17am.
