Quarterly Meeting
Minutes
April 28, 2007
The Quarterly meeting of the
Oconomowoc Historical Society was called to order at 10:00am by Acting Vice-President
Donald Wiemer at the museum. Approximately 30 people were in attendance.
Secretary’s Report:
- Vice-President
Don Wiemer asked for a motion to dispense with the reading of the January
27, 2007, Quarterly Meeting minutes. Motion approved. Motion made to
approve the January 27, 2007, Quarterly Meeting minutes. Motion approved.
Treasurer’s Report:
- John
Fishleigh reported the Society was on track with our fund raising. The
budget is on schedule. Wiemer also
advised that the “Doorways of Oconomowoc” posters are still
available. John advised that if
anyone wants to look at the financial report, they will be available after
the program.
Membership:
- Barbara
Elwood-Goetsch reported our membership is at 363 members/singles and
couples (not counting the new members), and 39 complimentary memberships.
Local
History:
- Betty
Hancock reported on the new members of the committee, Mike Schutz and Bill
Marris. Betty Hancock also advised that Dorothy St. Thomas will be
chairing the committee starting this fall.
The membership was advised that Tony Rager hopes to do a program on
the murals’ on June 30th.
This will be followed up on and the membership will be advised if
this program is a go. It should be
noted that Betty had chaired this committee for over 3 years.

Fund Raising:
- Don
Wiemer advised that the “Doorway of Oconomowoc” posters will be going sale
this June. If anyone is interested,
please contact the museum.
Administrator Report:
- Nancy
Lins informed the membership that the new exhibits are just about done for
the new season. The new exhibits
consist of the Munger Studio, the children’s library, and a padlock and
key display on loan from Don Wiemer.
Nancy also advised everyone to RSVP
by Sunday for the volunteer breakfast at Lake Terrace
on May 1.

Speaker: Carol Smart, presented a play which
tells the story of her grandmother, Rosa Minoka-Hill, Wisconsin's first Native American female
physician. This play told the story of one woman's strength and
determination as she overcomes great obstacles. As a young widow, she
brought up six children while providing medical care to the Oneida
reservation's community in Wisconsin.
