Pabst
Mansion historian, John Eastberg, will present his findings on the architectural
work of the firm of Ferry & Clas in the Oconomowoc area during the last quarter
of the nineteenth century. Among their local commissions were the Anna Peck
Residence, Oconomowoc City Hall, Summer Home of Louis Petit and the Residence of
Captain Scudder. Ferry & Clas also produced some of Wisconsin's finest
residences and business structures including the Captain Frederick Pabst
Mansion, Milwaukee Public Library and the Wisconsin State Historical Society
Building. Mr. Eastberg's presentation will be illustrated with period photos and
original architectural renderings.
Due to Mr. Eastberg's further interest in all things Pabst, the architecture of
Pabst Farms will also be discussed, including rare photographs.
John Eastberg was born and raised in Redlands. California and attended school in
Milwaukee at Cardinal Stritch University and received his BA in American
History. Later he attended Marquette University where he received a MA in 19th
Century American History, specializing in the Gilded Age. Eastberg has served as
the Pabst Mansion's historian for the last fifteen years and is a frequent
lecturer on Milwaukee architectural topics.
